Overview
Stavebook is a teacher-facing studio-management app. It lets an independent music teacher create and manage private studio records. Students do not create accounts, sign in, or use a student-directed Stavebook service.
This policy distinguishes between information handled on your device or in your private iCloud database and information received by OrinByte.
Studio information you enter
You may enter student details, schedules, dated lesson journals, practice items, repertoire, lesson plans, milestones, events, lending-library records, mileage, expenses, and related studio information. A student in Stavebook is a record created and maintained by the teacher; it is not a Stavebook user account.
This studio database is stored locally using Apple technologies and may sync through the teacher’s private iCloud database when iCloud is available and enabled. OrinByte does not operate a Stavebook account system or application backend and does not receive the teacher’s studio database through Stavebook.
Teachers decide what to record and are responsible for using suitable device, Apple Account, and professional privacy controls.
What the App does not do
Stavebook does not:
- include advertising or analytics;
- create student or parent accounts;
- contact students or parents;
- provide chat, public profiles, or social-network features;
- record audio or video; or
- perform AI scoring or pitch detection.
These statements describe the Stavebook app. If you visit the broader OrinByte website or email support, those interactions are separate from the studio database stored by the App.
iCloud and Apple services
If you enable or use iCloud features, Apple may process data needed to store and sync your private iCloud database. Your Apple Account, iCloud, CloudKit, device backups, and related Apple services are provided by Apple and governed by Apple’s terms and privacy policies. OrinByte does not receive access to your private iCloud studio database through Stavebook.
You can manage iCloud through your Apple device and Apple Account settings. Availability and behavior depend on Apple’s services, settings, and policies.
Purchases and subscriptions
Stavebook Pro purchases and subscription status are handled through Apple’s App Store and StoreKit. Apple processes payment information and provides the App with entitlement information needed to determine whether Pro features are available. OrinByte does not receive your full payment-card details from Apple through the App.
Apple’s handling of App Store transactions and subscription information is governed by Apple’s policies.
Repertoire-catalog update checks
The App’s only first-party network request is an optional, read-only check for updates to its bundled repertoire catalog. This request retrieves static catalog data. It does not send teacher or student records.
As with ordinary internet requests, hosting infrastructure may temporarily process basic technical request information, such as an IP address, to deliver the catalog file and maintain service reliability. We do not use this request to build teacher or student profiles, and the App does not attach studio records to it.
Backups, exports, and restores
Backup or export files are created at the teacher’s direction. The teacher controls where those files are saved or shared, such as local storage, iCloud Drive, or another destination they choose. Those destinations handle files under their own settings and policies.
When you restore a backup, the App uses the file you select to restore records. OrinByte does not receive the file as part of that process.
Information you send to support
If you email support@orinbyte.com, OrinByte receives the email address, message, and any files or details you choose to include. We use that information to respond, troubleshoot, protect the service, and keep records when reasonably necessary or legally required. Do not send student records unless they are necessary for support and you are authorized to share them.
Support information is retained only as long as reasonably necessary for those purposes and applicable legal obligations.
Data retention and deletion
Studio records remain on your device while the App’s local data remains there. You can delete individual records using the App’s controls. Deleting the App may remove local data, subject to Apple’s device and backup behavior.
If iCloud sync is used, iCloud-synced records are controlled through the App and the teacher’s Apple Account and iCloud settings. Backup or export files remain wherever the teacher saved or shared them until the teacher deletes them from those locations.
Because OrinByte does not receive the studio database through Stavebook, OrinByte cannot directly delete records held only on your device, in your private iCloud database, or in files you control. For help with support correspondence, contact us using the address below.
Children’s privacy
Stavebook is made for teachers, not for use by children. It does not provide student accounts and does not intentionally collect information directly from children. A teacher may choose to create records about students, including minors, on the teacher’s device or in the teacher’s private iCloud database. The teacher is responsible for having an appropriate basis for those records and for following applicable privacy, safeguarding, and professional obligations.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy to reflect changes to Stavebook, Apple services, or legal requirements. We will post the current version on this page and revise the “Last updated” date. If a change requires additional notice or consent under applicable law, we will provide it.
